About

Educational Editing Limited is based in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
The company is owned and managed by Elizabeth Gardiner, the Director, founder, author and editor-in-chief, who carries out the majority of the company’s editorial work personally. When more than one pair of hands and eyes is called for, we also work with a close-knit team of highly professional freelance editors, writers and translators, drawing on their expertise while guiding and overseeing their work to meet our clients’ requirements.

Company Founder

Liz began a career in Community Education management and Community Development in Scotland in 1980 after graduating from Dundee College of Education. Having gained extensive professional experience in community work, she moved to Greece in 1988. Equipped with the RSA Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (now CELTA), she taught English to non-native speakers in private language schools, mostly in Athens, but also in Lesvos and Messinia.

In 2000, she made the natural transition from ELT teaching into becoming a Speaking Test Examiner for Cambridge ESOL examinations in Athens. She then worked as an in-house editor and writer of ELT materials for local publishers (Hillside Press & New Editions). From 2007–2015, Liz was self-employed as a freelance specialist in all levels of editing and writing for the English Language Teaching market. As an author and editor, she has dealt with all levels of English learning both for Greek schools and for the international market in general as well as country-specific, as required. Her most recent assignments have
involved content development and writing English teaching materials for: Poland, Russia, Greece and the Middle East (including Saudi Arabia), as well as travel writing (specialising in Greek destinations) and translating Greek to English.

In addition, Liz has almost two decades of experience as a Speaking Test Examiner for Cambridge English exams and was also an assessor for City & Guilds IESOL/ISESOL written and oral examinations from 2007-2015, which has helped her develop an inherent sensitivity to content level in relation to the CEFR.

‘I enjoy my work and thrive on the challenges it presents. My clients praise me for my diligence, my patience and for meeting tight deadlines. I am happy to be both a team player and a supportive leader where needed. I regard humour, flexibility and respect for work-life balance as fundamental elements of strong working relationships and prerequisites for survival in every sense.’
